Sadly, today was my last day at Stanley Elementary School. Today was a big end-of-quarter assessment day for Stanley in both general education and special education classrooms. I got to observe what it looked like for Ms. Skouse to assess her first graders. She would do them one and a time, while the other student went on Istation on the computer. All of the assessments were timed for one minute. The assessments were: reading letter names, reading letter sounds, and reading words. Ms. Skouse has a file online that she tracks the progress on. Both students that were assessed improved overall in their skills. This is awesome to see since we have been working with them on reading.

When the general education classrooms were giving assessments, Ms. Skouse and a para pulled certain students on her list to test in her room. By doing this, the students were in a quieter environment with less students, and Ms. Skouse, the para, and I could help with questions from the students.

My time at Stanley has been wonderful, and I have learned so much from the teachers and students I have been working alongside. I will miss them greatly and I hope I can come back and visit sometime after Spring Break. Next observation, I will be at another school in the LIFT department. I loved being with the IRR classrooms, but I am excited to observe in a LIFT classroom which will be a much different but nonetheless, a completely wonderfully style of education and learning.
