The majority of my time at Stanley today was spent with Mrs. Scarpone and her student. He was struggling to complete his work most of the day in his classroom, because he did not want to do it. Since he did not complete his work in class, his time with Mrs. Scarpone was used to catch him up. It took a little while for Mrs. Scarpone to convince him to leave his classroom to work, but eventually he did and decided to do the work outside her room in the pod. Getting him to do his work was a struggle, but he is beginning to listen to me. When I show interest in what he likes and have conversations that are non-school related, I am able to form a relationship with the student. He let me help him with his work and we accomplished his makeup-work to-do list in about an hour. I am very glad that I was able to work through the behavior with the student, and got to help him with the lessons.
